Scope and Limits
The City of Dallas-Department of Aviation (AVl) in partnership with The National Parks Service will collaborate with other City departments, external stakeholders and various community groups to gather input and create a concept plan for the Love Field Loop Trail. The desire is to have a trail that will span the perimeter around the airport connecting surrounding communities and creating a safe environment for pedestrians.
Changes and Development
The City of Dallas-Department of Aviation has made a policy decision to contribute to the safety of the community by constructing pedestrian and bicycle trails in the surrounding roadways. AVI has partnered with The National Park Services to develop a plan with substantial community/stakeholder input to achieve this goal.
The project will enhance pedestrian safety by providing pedestrian trails and other related improvements.
The areas surrounding Dallas Love Field Airport contain numerous community resources including public parks & recreation, Bachman Lake, the Medical District and several commercial/retail areas. but lack dedicated pedestrian paths to provide the connections. This concept would allow for safer access and be a bridge to an ultimate system
The project will design and build pedestrian/bicycle trails to serve the neighborhoods with potential for connectivity to regional trails.
Will improve safety of pedestrians and bicyclists to encourage alternate modes of transportation.
No negative impact; will advance Vision Zero objective.
